Toyota will soon be introducing the Hyundai Creta-rivalling Urban Cruiser Hyryder in India

Toyota is currently working on expanding its line-up in the country at an aggressive rate and is all set to introduce a number of new offerings in the market. These include a couple of new SUVs, an all-new MPV, a new premium hatchback variant, and a new sedan. All these new Toyota cars will offer a strong package for the buyers and an extremely feature-rich cabin. Here are all the details that you should know about the top 5 upcoming Toyota cars in India.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder

The new Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder will soon be launched in India and the bookings for the car commenced in India a couple of weeks ago. The brand has received a commendable response from buyers in India and will give stiff competition to the rivals like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, and the upcoming Maruti Grand Vitara. The Urban Cruiser Hyryder shares its powertrain and underpinnings with the Grand Vitara and is thus based on Suzuki’s Global-C Platform. The SUV will be available with a 1.5L k15C Smart-Hybrid Petrol engine and a 1.5L 3-Cylinder TNGA Atkinson cycle strong hybrid petrol engine with Intelligent Hybrid Tech. The SUV will be available in four variants – E, S, G, and V. The Hybrid version will only get three trims – S, G, and V. Inside, the Hyryder is also available with a long list of features like a large sunroof, touchscreen infotainment system, push-button start, automatic climate control, digital instrument console, and more.

Toyota Land Cruiser LC300

The new Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 made its debut last year and boasts a new exterior design, new underpinnings, an updated powertrain, and a more extensive feature list. The Japanese carmaker is not all set to launch this new premium midsize SUV in India and has started taking in bookings for Rs 10 lakh. The new LC300 is based on the GA-F platform which is a derivative of the TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform and will be around 200 kg lighter when compared to the present iteration of the SUV. The new LC300 will get a 3.3L twin-turbo diesel engine that boasts a peak power and torque output of 3055 bhp and 700 Nm respectively. This engine comes mated to a ten-speed automatic gearbox. Inside, the LC300 boasts an extremely comfortable and premium cabin. It will get features like a digital instrument cluster, powered seat adjustment, a new touchscreen infotainment system, multi-zone climate control, auto-dimming IRVMs, steering-mounted controls, and more. Unlike the global iterations, the new LC300 in India will not be offered with the 3.5L twin-turbocharged petrol engine. This engine delivers a maximum power output of 415 bhp while the peak torque output stands at 650 Nm.

Toyota Innova Hycross

To be called the new Innova Hycross, the next-gen Toyota Innova will be an all-new product and will be offered with a strong hybrid powertrain. The new Innova Hycross will be underpinned by a monocoque TNGA-C (Toyota New Global Architecture-C) platform or GA-C (Global Architecture) platform. Unlike the older iterations, the new Innova Hycross will be offered with a front-wheel-drive setup and will boast improved dynamics and better ride quality. Powering this new MPV will be the 2.0L strong petrol-hybrid engine. While Toyota is yet to share official specs and details about this new hybrid powertrain, we are expecting it to use the localiser version of the new THS II (Toyota Hybrid System II) to keep the costs low. This system gets a twin-motor setup and has a high ‘step-off’ torque output for better efficiency. If reports are to be believed, the new Innova Hycross will not be offered with a diesel powertrain. It is also expected that the new Innova Hycross will have a wheelbase of around 2850 mm. Inside, it will have better space, more comfortable seats, and a new dashboard layout. The new underpinnings and a new suspension setup will make the Innova a lot more comfortable than before. The dynamics too are expected to be much better than before.

Toyota Glanza CNG

The Toyota Glanza is essentially the rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno in India and is offered as a VFM alternative to other premium hatchbacks in the country. It not only gets a smart exterior design but in addition to this, is also offers a comfortable cabin and a long list of features. While the hatchback currently is only available with a 1.2L petrol engine option as standard, the brand is said to be working on launching the CNG iteration soon. The new Glanza CNG however will only be launched in India after the launch of the Baleno CNG. Both these cars are likely to be offered with a 1.2L BI-Fuel engine that churns out 77 hp in the Swift and the Dzire. More details are yet to be confirmed by the brand.

Toyota Belta

The Toyota Belta is also expected to soon be introduced in India and will be a rebadged version of the Ciaz in India. The Belta, just like the Ciaz, will get a smart exterior design, a spacious cabin, and a comfortable ride quality. It is expected to be powered by a 1.5L petrol engine that will be offered with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic torque converter gearbox. The price is expected to start in the range of Rs 10-12 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base variant. The official launch timeline is expected to be announced soon by Toyota. Once launched, the new Toyota Belta will take on the rivals like the Maruti Suzuki CIaz, Honda City, Hyundai Verna, VW Virtus, and the Skoda Slavia.
