Upcoming Toyota Cars In India You Should Watch Out!

Toyota India will be launching a number of new cars including 3 new SUVs and 2 new MPVs for the buyers in next couple of months

Toyota India is working on expanding and updating its portfolio in the country and will soon be launching as many as six new products in the market for buyers. The brand launched two major products in the market in the last few months, i.e. the Urban Cruiser Hyryder and the new Innova Hycross. Both these vehicles are offered with strong hybrid engine options and not only offer a feature-rich package but in addition to this, also offer a safe and comfortable cabin. Having said this, here are the top upcoming Toyota cars in India that you should check out.

Upcoming Toyota Cars In India

2023 Toyota Innova Crysta

The Innova Crysta will make a comeback in the country and will be offered with an updated exterior design language and an updated diesel engine. While the bookings for this MPV ar open in the country for a token amount of Rs 50,000, the brand will only be offering the new Innova Crysta with a diesel engine option. For those wondering, the new Innova Crysta will be offered with a 2.4L diesel engine that churns out a peak power output of 148 bhp. This engine will be offered only with a five-speed manual gearbox option. Furthermore, this diesel engine has been updated to comply with the latest BS6 Phase 2 or RDE emission norms in the country. The Innova Crysta will also get two drive modes- ECO and POWER. On the features front, the MPV will continue to boast features like automatic climate control, steering-mounted controls, a semi-digital instrument console,  push-button start, rear AC vents, and more. The new Innova Crysta will be offered in 4 trim options while the buyers will also be able to choose from 7 and 8-seat configurations. More details will soon be shared by the brand ahead of the launch in the country.

Toyota A15 SUV Coupe

The new Toyota A15 SUV Coupe is also likely to soon make its India debut and will be positioned as a replacement to the Urban Cruiser sub-4m SUV in the country. This new SUV coupe will be a re-badged Maruti Suzuki Fronx and will be offered with a number of changes that will make it look similar to the Toyota Yaris Cross. Internally codenamed the A15 SUV, this new crossover, will share its powertrain options with the Maruti Fronx. Once launched in the country, the new A15 SUV Coupe will be challenging the rivals like the Hyundai Venue, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, Kia Sonet and others. On the features front, it is likely to be offered with a large sunroof, automatic climate control, steering mounted control, semi-digital instrument console, push-button start, connected car tech, electrically operated ORVMs, and more. The brand is however yet to comment on the official launch timeline of the new A15 SUV coupe.

Toyota D23 MPV

The Toyota D23 MPV will also make its debut in the coming months and will be a re-badged version of the Maruti Ertiga MPV. The MPV is currently codenamed the D23 MPV and is already on sale in the South African market as the Toyota Rumion. This new model will be offered with a number of cosmetic updates to differentiate it from the Maruti Ertiga. Powering the new Toyota 7-seater MPV will be the same 1.5L K15C DualJet engine that churns out a peak power output of 103 bhp and a maximum torque output of 136 Nm. This engine will be offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Toyota Corolla Cross Based 3-Row SUV

In addition to the entry-level Ertiga-based MPV, Toyota is also planning to launch a new 7-seater SUV in the country. This new SUV will be based on the new Toyota Corolla Cross and is likely to be underpinned by the same TNGA-C platform. The same platform is utilised in the Innova Hycross. Once launched, this new 7-seater SUV will be taking on rivals like Mahindra XUV700 and the Jeep Meridian. Likewise, it will also be getting the same engine options as the Hycross. These include a 2.0L NA petrol and a 2.0L strong hybrid engine. On the features front, this new 7-seater SUV will get LED lights, dual-tone machine-cut alloy wheels, passive entry sensors, LED tail lights, front parking sensors and many other features. In addition to this, this new SUV is also likely to offer features like an ADAS safety suite, connected car tech, sunroof, automatic climate control, push-button start, cooled storage console, auto-dimming IRVM, and front seat ventilation. From what we know so far, no diesel engine will be on offer for the buyers.

Toyota Electric SUV

If reports are to be believed, Suzuki and Toyota are currently working together on a number of new electric vehicles for the Indian market. As part of the JV, both brands will be developing a new skateboard platform which will be used to underpin a number of new SUVs including a new Toyota electric SUV. Internally codenamed 27PL, this new platform is derived from Toyota’s 40PL electric architecture. The Japanese carmaker is likely to launch this new electric SUV in the market by 2025. As far as dimensions are concerned, this new electric SUV is likely to have a 2.7m long wheelbase and is likely to feature a 60 kWh battery pack. Furthermore, the SUV will boast a real-life range of over 500 kms on a single charge while we may also see an AWD system being offered as a standard part of the package. On the features front, it will be offered with a large sunroof, ADAS safety suite, connected car tech, push-button start, ventilated seats, automatic climate console, and more.

Toyota Belta

In addition to all this, Toyota will also be launching the Maruti Ciaz-based sedan in the Indian market. To be called the Toyota Belta, this new sedan will boast a number of styling updates that will differentiate it from the Maruti Ciaz and offer a spacious and comfortable cabin. The brand is expected to use the same powertrain options with the Belta that are offered with the Ciaz while it may also launch a CNG powertrain option soon. Needless to say, no diesel engine option will be on offer for the buyers. More details including the official launch date, launch timeline, and price are yet to be known.
