Tata recently confirmed the launch of the new Tata Tiago EV in the Indian market for buyers looking for an affordable and compact electric hatchback. The Tiago EV will be the third electric car in the brand’s line-up and was first showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. The new Tiago will be positioned below the new Tata Tigor EV in India. Having said this, here is everything you should know about the upcoming Tata Tiago EV in the Indian market.

Tata Tiago EV – All Details

For starters, the new Tata Tiago will share its powertrain options with the new Tigor EV and is expected to be offered in multiple variants. The entry-level version will be offered with a 41 hp and a peak torque output of 105 Nm. This motor draws its power from a 16.5 kWh battery pack that offers a claimed range of 165 km on a single charge. The next variant gets the same motor that comes mated to a 21.5 kWh battery pack. This setup offers a claimed range of 213 km on a single charge.

The range-topping version will be available for private buyers and will be available with Ziptron architecture. This setup gets a permanent synchronous electric motor that churns out a peak power and torque output of 75 hp and 170 Nm of maximum torque. This setup features a 26 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that boasts a claimed range of 306 km on a single charge. This setup also offers multiple charging options including DC fast charging. When charged using a 25 kW DC fast charger, this new car will take around 1 hour and 50 minutes to fully charge.

The exterior styling, however, is expected to remain similar to the present iteration of the car but we might see many subtle updates including new exterior colour options, new trim elements, and different badging to differentiate the Tiago EV from the standard iterations of the hatchback. The build quality too will be great while the Tiago will have commendable fit-finish levels.

Inside, the Tata Tiago EV will offer a similar package and will retain a similar dashboard layout. The brand will however equip the car with a semi-digital instrument console, a new gear selector, an updated infotainment system, and a similar features list for the buyers.

Tata is currently one of the best-selling EV brands in the country and is offering a strong package for buyers looking for a well-built and feature-rich electric car. The Tata Nexon EV is currently the best-selling electric car in India and is being offered in two iterations. The Nexon gives strong competition to the rivals like the MG ZS EV and the newly launched Mahindra XUV400 in India.
