Multiple new sedans including the new-gen Hyundai Verna, new Mercedes A-Class and the new Hyundai Aura facelift will be launching in the country in 2023
With the automotive market now springing back into action, a number of car makers are working on launching new sedans and hatchbacks in the country including Hyundai, Mercedes, and others. If you are also in the market to buy a new car soon, here is a list of all the upcoming sedans and hatchbacks in India in 2023.
Upcoming Sedans And Hatchbacks In India In 2023
New BMW 7 Series
Coming: Early-2023
Engines: 3.0-litre P, 4.4-litre P, 3.0-litre D
Expected price: Rs 1.5 – 1.7 crore
The BMW 7 Series is the brand’s flagship sedan in the market and is placed as a premium and dynamically sorted luxury sedan that not only offers a strong road presence but in addition to this also offers a great in-cabin experience and strong performance. The brand will soon be launching the new 7 Series in the market which will boast a bolder and more aggressive exterior styling which is largely dominated by a new and larger kidney grille and new oversized headlights. From what we know so far, it will be offered with a full-width light band inside above which sits the 14.9-inch touchscreen system in the centre and a 12.3-inch display for the instrument console. The sedan is also likely to offer a 31.3-inch 8K cinema screen option for the rear passengers that folds down from the roof and offers video streaming services. For those wondering, the Indian-spec version is expected to be offered with three engine options – 299hp, 3.0-litre diesel (730d), the 380hp, 3.0-litre petrol (740i) and 543hp, 4.4-litre V8 petrol (M760i). To further boost performance and fuel economy, all three engines will be offered with a 48V mild hybrid setup with all-wheel drive as standard. A pure electric version – the i7 – will also be launched in the country. Having said this, all variants will come with the extended wheelbase as standard in India. From what we know so far, the new BMW 7 Series will be launched in the country somewhere in early 2023 while it is expected to be priced from Rs 1.5-1.7 crore (ex-showroom).

Hyundai Grand i10 Nios Facelift
Coming: Mid 2023
Engines: 1.2 P, 1.0 P
Expected Price: Rs 6 lakh-9 lakh
The Grand i10 Nios is currently one of the most affordable Hyundai cars in the country and is a strong rival to the cars like the Maruti Swift and the Tata Tiago. The Korean carmaker will soon be launching the new Grand i10 Nios facelift in the country which is likely to be offered with multiple styling updates and new features while it will continue to get the same engine options. The present iteration of the hatchback is offered with three engine options – 1.2L NA petrol, 1.0L turbo petrol and 1.2L Bi-Fuel CNG engine. For those wondering, the 1.2L NA petrol engine churns out a peak power output of 83 bhp and a maximum torque output of 114 Nm. The 1.0L turbo petrol on the other hand delivers maximum power and torque output of 100 hp and 172 Nm respectively. The 1.2L Bi-Fuel CNG engine delivers a peak power output of 69 bhp and 95.2 Nm of peak torque output. Needless to say, both manual, as well as automatic gearbox options, will be on offer for the buyers. More details will be shared ahead of the official launch in the country.

Hyundai Aura Facelift
Coming: Late 2023
Engines: 1.2-litre P, 1.0-litre P
Expected price: Rs 6.5 lakh-9.5 lakh
The Hyundai Aura is currently one of the best-selling compact sedans and is offered with three engine options – 1.2L NA petrol, 1.0L turbo petrol, and 1.2L Bi-fuel CNG. Just like the Grand i10 Nios, the new Hyundai Aura facelift will also boast new exterior styling, new features, and a VFM package for buyers. The brand is expected to launch the new Aura somewhere in Late 2023 and will position it as a direct rival to the Maruti Dzire, Honda Amaze and Tata Tigor.

Next-Gen Hyundai Verna
Coming: April 2023
Engines: 1.5-litre P, 1.4L P
Expected price: Rs 10 lakh-16 lakh
The Hyundai Verna is considered to be one of the most sorted offerings in the segment and gives strong competition to the rivals like the Honda City, Maruti Ciza, VW Virtus, and Skoda Slavia. The brand is said to be working on launching the next-gen iteration of the sedan in the Indian market which will boast the brand’s latest Sensuous Sportiness design language and is likely to offer this new sedan with a split headlamp design. From what we know so far, the new Hyundai Verna will only be offered with two petrol engine options – 1.5L NA petrol and 1.4L turbo petrol. Both these engines will be offered with manual as well as automatic gearbox options. Internally codenamed the BN7, this new sedan will offer features like a large digital instrument cluster, touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, wireless charging, push-button start, connected car tech, a cooled storage console, and more. It will also boast an ADAS safety suite which will offer features like forward collision warning, blind spot assist, lane keep assists, rear cross-traffic alert and more.

Mercedes Benz A-Class
Coming: Mid 2023
Engines: 1.3-litre P, 2.0-litre D
Expected price: Rs 45 lakh-50 lakh
The new Mercedes Benz A-Class is also likely to go on sale next year and will be one of the most affordable Mercedes cars in the country. This new iteration of the sedan boasts minor updates in the form of a new front fascia, new LED lights, and new DRLs in addition to revised rear styling which is largely dominated by new tail lights. Inside, we will get the latest-gen of the MBUX system along with the new A-Class while other features like dual-zone climate control, touchscreen infotainment system, wireless charger, Type C ports, sunroof, digital instrument cluster, and more will also be a standard part of the package. In the Indian market, it is expected to be offered with the same 2.0L diesel engine in addition to a new 1.3L mild-hybrid petrol engine.

Volvo S60 Facelift
Coming: Mid 2023
Engines: 2.0-litre P
Expected price: Rs 45 lakh-50 lakh
The new Volvo S60 facelift is also believed to soon launch in India and will boast mild updates like some cosmetic updates, new features, and updated powertrain options. This new iteration of the sedan will boast revised air intakes in the bumper, a new rear apron with hidden exhaust pipes, and new alloy wheels. Inside, you will now get a new Andorid-based infotainment system with apps like Google maps, Google Assistance, and Google Play Store. While the sedan is offered with both mild-hybrid diesel and plug-in-hybrid petrol engine options, the Indian-spec version is expected to be offered with a new mild-hybrid 2.0L petrol engine. More details however are yet to be known.
