Upcoming Maruti Jimny 5-Door Spied During High Altitude Testing

The Mahindra Thar-rivalling Maruti Jimny 5-Door is likely to make its debut at Auto Expo 2023 and will offer a capable and a VFM package for the buyers

Maruti Suzuki India is now gearing up to launch the new Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door in the Indian market after launching the new Grand Vitara. The new 5-door Jimny will take on the rivals like the Mahindra Thar and the Force Gurkha. The SUV was recently spied on high-altitude testing in Leh ahead of the Indian launch. Unlike the global iterations, the Indian-spec Jimny will have a 5-door layout and here are all the details that you should check out.

Maruti Jimny 5-Door

For starters, the new Jimny 5-Door is likely to be offered with the same 1.5L K15C petrol engine that we also get with the Maruti Ertiga, XL6, Brezza, and the Grand Vitara. This engine churns out a maximum power output of 103 PS while the peak torque output stands at 137 Nm. The Jimny is expected to be offered with manual as well as automatic gearbox options while it will also be offered with the brand’s AllGrip Pro AWD setup as standard. This setup gets a low-ratio gear that multiplies engine torque and limits speed, thus making it one of the best for extreme off-roading.

The reports also suggest that the new Jimy 5-door will measure around 3850 mm in length and will offer a compact footprint that makes it a suitable SUV for off-roading. The new Jimny 5-door will offer commendable approach and departure angles, a high ground clearance, and a boxy styling. Having said this, on the features front, the new Jimny 5-door will be offered with central locking, a touchscreen infotainment system, a semi-digital instrument console, and more.

While the new Maruti Jimny 5-door price is expected to start from Rs 10-12 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi) and will be sold via the Nexa dealership network. Once launched, it will take on the rivals like the Mahindra Thar and the Force Gurkha. The Mahindra Thar and the Force Gurkha are also expected to get five-door versions soon that were recently spied testing in the country.
