4 Upcoming Maruti Strong Hybrid Cars You Should Wait For

Maruti is now focusing on launching alternative fuel vehicles in the country including CNG, flex-fuel, and strong hybrid cars

Maruti Suzuki continues to dominate the Indian auto market and has one of the largest portfolios in the country The brand not only offers fuel-efficient petrol cars for buyers but in addition to this, also has an extensive CNG portfolio. The brand recently launched its first strong hybrid car in India and is now gearing up to launch as many as four new hybrid strong cars in India in the next two years. Here are all the details you need to know about the upcoming Maruti Suzuki hybrid cars in 2023-24.

Upcoming Maruti Strong Hybrid Cars

New-Gen Maruti Suzuki Swift And Dzire Strong Hybrid

It’s a not secret to anyone that Maruti Suzuki is working on the next-gen iterations of the Maruti Suzuki Swift and the Dzire. Both these vehicles are not only expected to feature a new exterior design language but in addition to this, will also boast a new cabin and updated powertrain options. From what we know so far, the new-gen Swift and the Dzire will be offered with two engine options – 1.2L NA petrol and 1.2L strong-hybrid petrol. While the 1.2L NA Dual Jet engine is the same engine that we get with the present version, the brand 1.2L strong hybrid engine will be a completely new unit co-developed by Maruti Suzuki and Toyota. This new 3-cylinder engine will feature Toyota’s strong hybrid tech and will boast a claimed fuel economy of over 35-40 kmpl. The NA petrol engine on the other hand boasts a peak power output of 90 bhp and has a claimed mileage of 23.76 kmpl. The new hybrid powertrain will also comply with the upcoming CAFE II standards. On the features front, the new Swift and the Dzire will be offered with features like a large infotainment system, automatic climate control, steering mounted control, digital instrument console, wireless charger, cooled storage console, and more. In addition to this, it will also offer many other features like push-button start, connected car tech, electrically operated ORVMs, etc. Once launched, the new Swift will challenge the rivals like the Tata Tiago and the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios.

Maruti Suzuki 7-Seater SUV

After launching the new Grand Vitara SUV in India, Maruti Suzuki is now working on a new 7-seater SUV to challenge the rivals like the Hyundai Alcazar and the Kia Carens. Having said this, this new SUV will be underpinned by the same platform that underpins the Grand Vitara SUV and will be sharing most of the components with the Grand Vitara SUV. In addition to this, it will also utilise the same engine options – 1.5L K15C mild hybrid and 1.5L Atkinson Cycle strong hybrid engine options. The 1.5L NA petrol engine churns out a peak power output of 103 bhp and is offered with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox option. The 1.5L strong hybrid engine on the other hand delivers a combined power output of 115 bhp and is offered with an e-CVT gearbox. For those wondering, the claimed mileage figures for the strong hybrid engine stand at 27.97 kmpl while the NA petrol can deliver up to 21.11 kmpl depending on the drivetrain option you opt for. Unlike many of the rivals, this SUV will not be offered with a diesel engine option for the buyers. Just like the Grand Vitara, this new 7-seater SUV will boast a feature-rich and premium cabin and will get a large sunroof, automatic climate control, push-button start, cooled glovebox, and more. The brand is yet to share more details about this new upcoming seven-seater rival to the cars like the Hyundai Alcazar, Maruti XL6, Kia Carens, etc in the Indian market.

Premium Maruti 7-Seater MPV

Alongside the new Grand Vitara-based 7-seater SUV, Maruti Suzuki is also working on its own rebadged version of the recently launched Toyota Innova Hycross in the Indian market. This new MPV will feature a number of changes that will differentiate it from the Innova Hycross. In addition to a refreshed exterior design language, the MPV might also get a different colour combination inside the cabin. On the features front, we will continue to get the same features that are offered with the Innova Hycross including the multi-zone climate control, sunroof, digital instrument console, and more. In addition to this, the MPV will also be the first Maruti car in India to be offered with ADAS safety suite. The safety suite will consist of features like adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitor, lane keep assist, rear cross traffic alert and pre-collision system. Other safety features include 6 airbags, traction control, an electronic stability program and ABS with EBD. Having said this, the new 7-seater MPV will be offered with the same engine options that we get with the Innova – 2.0L NA petrol and 2.0L Atkinson cycle strong hybrid engine. While the 2.0L NA petrol engine churns out a peak power output 172 bhp and maximum torque output of 205 Nm, the strong hybrid engine churns out 184 bhp. Both these engines are offered only with automatic gearbox options. Likewise, no diesel engine will be on offer for the buyers.
