Honda Cars India published preview pictures of its forthcoming all-new SUV last month, which is anticipated to compete with the Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Hyundai Creta, and others. The SUV has now been put through its paces for the first time on our land, and it was snapped during the test run. Autocar India provided these photos. The SUV was discovered during a test drive, wearing heavy camouflage. With images at our hands, it’s simple to see how the vehicle shown in the teasers appears almost similar to the mule found in the wild.
Upcoming Honda SUV – Design
The SUV seen in its production-spec form is the company’s upcoming mid-size model, which was showcased at IIMS in Indonesia in its concept form. Based on the concept model, design sketches, and test mule, we can expect it to look exciting, every bit. A high-set bonnet, upright nose, chunky bumper with scuff plates, black cladding running all around, flared wheel arches, high ground clearance, beefy wheel arches and more SUV-spec elements will be involved in its design. Furthermore, it will have whisker-like LED DRLs, neatly integrated inside the headlamp assembly. Expect slim tail lamps to be donned by this SUV.
Upcoming Honda SUV – Interior
The cabin will have Honda-typical appeal for the SUV. It will be premium, spacious, and of course, practical. However, it won’t be a three-row SUV. With just two rows, it will seat 5 occupants. We are expecting it to come with a large 8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit along with wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay. Other features might include automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, cruise control, rear parking camera, auto-dimming IRVM and more. Honda Sensing safety suite is highly anticipated on this upcoming SUV from the Japanese brand.
Upcoming Honda SUV – Powertrain
Under the bonnet, the SUV is likely to house Honda’s much-loved 1.5L iVTEC motor that can push out a rated power output of roughly 120 PS and 145 Nm of max torque. This is the same motor that is also offered on the 5th-gen City. As regards transmission choices, 5-speed MT and CVT could be a part of the package. Moreover, the company might consider launching the SUV with a strong-hybrid powertrain as well. As of now, there’s no confirmation on this from the company.
Upcoming Honda SUV – Launch Date & Price
The upcoming SUV from Honda will only hit the market by the second half of this year. In fact, a festive season launch could be on the cards. For prices, a starting price of Rs 10 lakh is expected.
