The Toyota Innova Hycross was recently unveiled by Toyota Kirloskar Motors in India and will be positioned as a practical, comfortable, and feature-rich offering in the brand’s line-up. Unlike its older generations, the new-gen Innova will be underpinned by a monocoque platform and will only be offered with petrol engine options in the country. From what we know so far, the new Innova Hycross will be sold alongside the Innova Crysta in the Indian market and the brand will soon be announcing the official price list of the MPV in the country. Having said this, the new Innova Hycross is likely to challenge not only the rivals like the Kia Carnival in the Indian market but in addition to this, will also lock horns with the higher-spec versions of a few of the premium midsize SUVs like the Mahindra XUV700 and the Tata Safari. The new Toyota Innova Hycross will be offered with two trim options – 2.0L NA petrol and 2.0L strong hybrid petrol engine. The Mahindra XUV700 on the other hand gets two powertrain options – 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.2L turbo diesel. The 2.0L diesel engine churns out a peak power output of 185 PS and a maximum torque output of up to 450 Nm. This engine can be had with a six-speed manual or an automatic gearbox while the buyers can also opt for an all-wheel-drive setup with select variants. The petrol engine on the other hand delivers a maximum power output of 200 Ps and a maximum torque output of 380 Nm. This engine can also be had with a 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox while the power is only sentenced to the front wheels as standard.

The Tata Safari however is only offered with a single engine option – 2.0L turbo diesel. For those wondering, the Tata Safari diesel engine churns out a peak power output of 170 Ps while the maximum torque output stands at 350 Nm. This engine can be had with a 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox options. The claimed fuel economy stands at 14.08 kmpl and the SUV delivers a range of around 700 km on a single tank of fuel.
