The Tata Punch is the brand’s most affordable SUV in the brand and is positioned as the first Tata micro-SUV for the Indian market. It takes on the rivals like the Citroen C3 and the Maruti Ignis

The Tata Punch is one of the most practical and VFM offerings in the Indian market and is offered with a capable package. It is offered in four trim options and gets a 1.2L NA petrol engine that churns out a peak power output of 86 bhp. It is offered with two gearbox options and is currently priced from Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Having said this, as many as two direct rivals of the Tata Punch will soon be launched in the country for the buyers looking for an affordable and VFM mini-SUV. Maruti Baleno Crossover

Maruti Suzuki first showcased the Baleno-based crossover at the Auto Expo 2020 and will soon be launching it in the Indian market. Internally codenamed the YTB Crossover, this upcoming car will be underpinned by a modified Heartect platform. Likewise, it also expected to be offered with the same 1.2L NA petrol engine that churns out a peak power output of 89 bhp while a peak torque output of 113 Nm. In addition to this, the new Maruti YTB crossover is also expected to be offered with a 1.0L turbo petrol engine with a rated power output of more than 100 bhp. Both these engines are likely to be offered with both manual as well as automatic gearbox options and will boast strong performance and fuel economy figures. Having said this, the brand is expected to price this new mini-SUV from Rs 8-10 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). On the features front, this new upcoming crossover will be offered with features like a wireless charger, HUD, digital instrument console, automatic climate control, push-button start, touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cooled storage console, connected car tech, auto-dimming IRVM, electrically operated ORVMs, steering mounted controls, and more. More details will be shared by the brand ahead of the launch.

Hyundai Ai3 Mini SUV

Hyundai recently shared its plan to launch a new mini-SUV in India somewhere next year and is likely to showcase it at the upcoming 2023 Auto Expo. This new mini-SUV is internally known as Ai3 and will share the same K1 platform that also underpins the Grand i10 Nios. Other than this, the upcoming Hyundai Ai3 mini-SUV is also likely to share its engine options with the Grand i10 Nios and will be offered with the same three engine options – 1.2L NA petrol, 1.2L bi-fuel CNG, and 1.0L turbo petrol. Furthermore, from what we know so far, this new SUV will measure around 3.6 m in length and will boast a compact footprint that will make it a great choice for anyone looking for a practical commuter. On the features front, it will offer a more extensive features list when compared to the rivals and is likely to get features like a large infotainment system, semi-digital instrument console, wireless charging, Arkamys premium sound system, automatic climate control with eco coating, adjustable rear headrests, push button start/stop system, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and more. The Korean carmaker will be sharing more details ahead of the launch in the country.
