The Maruti Brezza-rivalling Tata Nexon is one of the safest compact SUVs in the Indian market
The Tata Nexon CNG is expected to be launched in the Indian market soon after the launch of the Tiago CNG and the Tigor CNG. The Nexon CNG will take on the rivals like the upcoming Kia Sonet CNG and the Maruti Brezza CNG. The SUV was spotted testing in India and is expected to be offered with the same 1.2L Revotron Turbo engine that powers the standard iteration of the SUV. Here are all the details that you should know about the upcoming Tata Nexon CNG.
2022 Tata Nexon CNG
The current iteration of the Tata Nexon features a 1.2L Revotrol engine that churns out a peak power and torque output of 120 bhp and 170 Nm. This engine comes mated to 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed AMT. The CNG version of the Tata Nexon however will be less powerful but will offer superior fuel economy when compared to the petrol iterations. The CNG kit however takes a toll on the total boot space. The Indian carmaker is also said to be working on the CNG iteration of the Tata Punch. The Tata Punch shares its powertrain options with the Tata Tiago and features the same 1.2L Revotrol petrol engine. This micro-SUV however features additional features and equipment that improve the capabilities by a fair margin.

The Tata Tiago CNG gets a 1.2L Revotron, three-cylinder, Bi-Fuel engine that boasts a peak power output of 73.4 PS while the maximum torque output stands at 95 Nm. The same engine on petrol mode churns our power and torque output of 86 PS and 113 Nm respectively. This engine is only available with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The brand however did share that an AMT version might also be introduced in the country. The fuel economy from this motor stands at 26.49 km/kg. Hyundai and Kia are also working on launching the CNG iterations of the Venue and the Sonet in India. Maruti is also working on launching the new Brezza CNG in India.
The Tata Nexon is one of the best-selling SUVs in the Indian market and takes on the rivals like the Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, and more. The Tata Nexon is also available with a 1.5L diesel engine that churns out a peak power and torque output of 110 PS @ 4000 rpm and 260 Nm @ 1500-2750 respectively. Just like the petrol Nexon, the Nexon diesel is also available with two gearbox options – a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed AMT. Toyota is also working on Toyota Glanza CNG which will feature a 1.2L powertrain. Once launched, the Toyota Glanza will be one of the few premium CNG hatchbacks in India.
