The Mahindra XUV.e8 will be the first of the five SUVs to make it to the showrooms in 2024

Mahindra officially showcased its five new electric concept SUVs that will soon go on sale from 2024 onwards. These include the new XUV.e8, XUV.e9, BE.05, BE.07, and BE.09. All these SUVs will be based on a new skateboard platform that will specifically be made for the upcoming electric SUVs. This new platform will be co-developed by Mahindra and Volkswagen group. Currently also being considered as the electric version of the recently launched XUV700 in India, the new Mahindra XUV.e8 will be the first electric Mahindra car to go on sale. Here are all the details that you should check about the upcoming 2024 Mahindra XUV.e8.

New Mahindra XUV.e8 Electric SUV

Design

Starting with the design first, the new Mahindra XUV.e8 will remind you of the XUV700 by most of the angles, save for an updated front fascia. For starters, this new electric SUV boasts wider and more prominent DRLs that run across the width of the car and a much bigger and bold front grille that gives it an aggressive and strong character. In addition to this, it also gets new headlamps and a sharp bumper design that gives it a unique identity when compared to the XUV700.

The side profile however remains similar but is complemented by new and futuristic-looking alloy wheels and attractive graphic inserts that highlight the strong character lines of the vehicle. The rear looks also look similar but get new taillights and a sportier bumper design. In all, the Mahindra XUV.e8 remains a smart-looking vehicle and will definitely attract a lot of eyeballs when out there on the roads.

Dimensions

From what we know so far, the new Mahindra XUV.e8 will be 4740 mm in length, 1900 mm in width, and 1760 mm in height. The electric SUV will boast a wheelbase of 2762 mm. When compared to the XUV70, the new XUV.e8 is 45 mm longer, 10 mm wider and 5 mm taller while will boast a strong road presence with its aggressive and bold styling. More details about the specifications of the production-spec version are yet to be confirmed by the Indian carmaker.

Premium 7-Seater Cabin

The new XUV.e8 will be offered with an extremely premium and comfortable cabin that will offer a segment-leading in-cabin experience. The XUV.e8 will feature a three-row layout and the buyers will also be offered with captain seats in the second row with some select variants. Needless to say, the comfort levels will be impressive while the seats too will boast impressive comfort and features like ventilation and electric adjustment.

Features

The new Mahindra XUV.e8 will be offered with a long list of features including a vertically mounted three-display setup for the instrument console and the infotainment system, wireless charging pads, seat memory function, auto-dimming IRVMs, cooled glovebox, push-button start, electric gear shifter, seat ventilation, connected car tech, a large panoramic sunroof, and other features like connected car tech. In addition to this, the XUV.e8 will also get many other advanced features like a heads-up display, voice commands, automatic wipers and headlamps, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, multi-zone climate control, etc.

INGLO Platform

Underpinning the new Mahindra XUV.e8 will be an all-new INGLO skateboard platform that is currently being co-developed by Mahindra and Volkswagen. This new platform will be utilised in many of the upcoming electric vehicles by both brands. In addition to the flexibility to be used for underpinning multiple body-styled electric vehicles, this new platform also offers better weight distribution, thus helping the engineers to fit bigger battery packs with better efficiency.

Powertrain

Mahindra shared that the new XUV.e8 might be offered with more than one powertrain option. These include a single motor setup and a dual motor, AWD iteration for the higher-spec variants. The power output from these motors is expected to be in the range of 230 hp to 350 hp. More details however are yet to be revealed by the brand. In addition to this, the brand also shared that the AWD version might boast an 80 kWh battery pack that will help it offer a claimed range of over 400-450 km on a single charge.

Mahindra XUV.e8 Launch Date And Price

Mahindra confirmed that the new XUV.e8 will hit the showrooms somewhere in 2024 after which the other electric SUVs will make their debut one after the other. While more details are still awaited, the new Mahindra XUV800 is expected to be priced from Rs 35-40 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base variant.
