New Gen Toyota C-HR Previewed - All Details To Know

The new Toyota C-Hr is based on the brand’s latest TNGA platform and will be offered with PHEV powertrain options for the buyers

The next-gen C-HR crossover was recently previewed by Toyota ahead of the official launch somewhere in 2024. Called the C-HR Prologue concept, this new model gave us a slight hint of what to expect from the production-spec version of the crossover. Furthermore, the brand also shared that the C-HR will be first time offered with a plug-in hybrid powertrain in addition to a full-hybrid model which was being offered with the first-gen iteration of the C-HR. Having said this, here are all the details you need to know about the recently previewed new gen Toyota C-HR Prologue crossover concept.

Next Gen Toyota C-HR Prologue Concept Crossover

To start with, the new C-HR will be closely related to the Toyota Prius and will share the latest generation of Toyota’s TNGA platform and powertrain options with the latest generation of the Prius. In addition to this, it will also be sold in many of the global markets alongside the Prius and will be positioned below the upcoming electric SUV coupe, recently previewed by the bZ compact crossover concept.

While the brand is yet to share more details about the powertrain of the new gen Toyota C-HR but reports suggest that the brand is expected to utilise a PHEV powertrain that gets a 149 hp, 2.0L NA four-cylinder petrol engine with a 160 hp electric motor on the front axle. This setup churns out a combined power output of 224 hp. Furthermore, it will also continue to be offered with the same hybrid powertrain that boasts a peak power output of 194 hp. More details will be shared by the brand at the time of the official launch in the market.

Speaking of the design, this new Toyota Crossover, just like its predecessor, has been designed at Toyota’s European design headquarters located in Nice, France. For starters, it will feature shorter overhangs and wheels pushed to the corners which is one of the crucial parts of the brand’s latest ‘condensed stance monster’ styling. The C-HR concept also gets a new ‘Hammerhead’ front-end design that might also remind you of some other new Toyota cars in the market. The brand is however expected to drop the tri-tone finish in the production version. For those wondering, the new production-spec version is likely to be revealed sometime around mid-2023. The launch of the C-HR will be somewhere in late 2023 or early 2024.

Toyota is expected to launch this new crossover somewhere in 2024 and will position it above the Urban Cruiser Hyryder in the market. The brand is currently focusing on expanding its hybrid portfolio and recently launched the new Innova Hycross in the market. The new Innova Hyross is currently one of the most talked about launches this year and is enjoying a strong demand in the market. The brand earlier launched the new Urban Cruiser Hyryder and the Camry sedan in India and currently has one of the most extensive hybrid portfolios in India.
