The Tata Harrier-rivaling MG Hector is one of the most feature-rich SUVs in the Indian market

It’s been a while since the new 2022 MG Hector was launched in the Indian market and the brand is now all set to launch the new facelift version of this SUV in the country to take on the rivals like the Tata Harrier and other premium midsize SUVs. The MG Hector facelift was recently teased by the brand and hinted toward a number of changes that will be offered with this new iteration of the SUV. Here is all the detail about the upcoming 2022 MG Hector facelift in the Indian market that we know so far.

2022 MG Hector Facelift In India

Updated Exterior Design

The MG Hector facelift will be offered with a long list of cosmetic updates including a redesigned front fascia. For starters, the SUV will now get a larger and more prominent chrome grille a the front flanked by merging DRLs on either end. The headlights too have been redesigned and now feature a more aggressive frame. The lower part of the bumper gets aggressive black inserts and gives a commanding road presence to the new Hector. While the side profile remains similar, the alloy wheels too are expected to be exactly similar to the present iteration of the SUV. The rear too will get some changes in addition to a tweaked rear bumper and redesigned taillight layout. We might also see new exterior colour options.

New Features And A Redesigned Cabin

With the launch of the new MG Hector facelift, the brand will now be offering a redesigned dashboard layout and a couple of new features. To start with, the older infotainment system has been replaced by a new 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system that will be the largest to be offered with any car so far in the country. In addition to this, the SUV will also get other changes like new horizontal AC vents and a newly designed central console. What you will also get is a new gear lever with the Hector facelift that will give a premium look to the cabin.

Better Safety!

The new MG Hector facelift will now get new and more advanced safety features that were missing from the package earlier. From what we know so far, the new MG Hector facelift will get LEVEL 2 ADAS tech that will be kitted with features like lane keep assist, blind spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning, and lane departure warning. In addition to this, other features like traction control, multiple airbags, electronic stability program and more will also be on offer with the new MG Hector facelift.

Same Powertrain

Just like the present iteration of the MG Hector, the new facelift model will also feature the same powertrain options that include a 1.5L turbo petrol, 1.5L mild-hybrid turbo petrol, and a 2.0L turbo diesel. While the performance of both these motors is impressive, the fuel economy offered by the petrol motors is average. Needless to say, all these engines will be offered with manual as well as automatic gearbox options for the buyers.

Launch Date

While the brand is yet to share the details about the official launch timeline of the new MG Hector in India, we do expect it to launch this new SUV in the next few months. It is also worth noting the fact that the new MG Hector facelift will be sold alongside the present iteration of the SUV.
