MG Air EV Launch Confirmed In India - All Details

The new MG Air EV will be one of the most compact and practical electrical cars on sale in India today

MG India was one of the first brands in the country to enter the electric four-wheeler segment with the launch of the MG ZS EV in the country. The brand is now gearing up to launch the new two-door AIR EV in India to take on the rivals like the Tata Tiago EV. Furthermore, the new MG Air EV is also the official EV at the G20 Summit and will be utilised to welcome the Government Delegates and for their travel purposes. It will also be the official vehicle for COP 27, Egypt scheduled to happen in November 2022. Here are all the details you should know about the upcoming MG Air EV in India.

MG Air EV To Launch Soon

The MG Air EV is based on the Wuling air EV and is currently on sale in the Indonesian markets. It will be tweaked for the Indian market and will feature a new air conditioning setup and battery thermal management system. On the design front, this new electric car will offer a funky and boxy silhouette with futuristic detailing. With a length of just 2.9 metres, the MG Air EV will be one of the most compact cars in the country and will have a wheelbase of around 2010 mm.

Inside, the electric car is offered with a long list of features including a dual 10.25-inch screen layout, soft-touch materials, faux aluminium bits on the inside, and other features like connected car tech and electrically operated mirrors.

The car will be powered by a 20 kWh to 25 kWh battery pack which will be locally sourced from Tata Auto Comp. This battery will offer a real-world driving range of around 150 km on a single charge. The peak power output figures from the single-motor setup being offered with the Air EV are likely to stand at around 40 hp. For those wondering, the power will be channelled to the front wheels as standard.

From what we know so far, the new MG Air price in India is likely to start at around 10 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and the brand is also expected to bring the four-door version in India soon. Once launched, the new MG Air EV will take on the rivals like the Tata Tiago EV and the upcoming Maruti electric car in India.

In addition to the new Air EV, MG is also expected to soon launch the new MG Hector facelift in India to take on the rivals like the Tata Harrier, Hyundai Creta, Mahindra XUV700, and other premium SUVs in the country.
