The new Maruti Suzuki S-Presso is not only one of the most affordable hatchbacks in the country but is also one of the most affordable CNG cars in India. Furthermore, the new S-Presso also offers a practical and feature-rich package for buyers. The Indian carmaker recently launched the new Maruti S-Presso S CNG in the country at a starting price of Rs 5.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base LXI CNG version. The new Maruti S-Presso CNG takes on the rivals like the Maruti WagonR CNG, Maruti Celerio CNG, Tata Tiago CNG, and more. The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso S CNG continues to be offered with a similar exterior styling that is largely dominated by boxy panels, sharp cuts, and elegant trim elements. The dimensions also remain similar and the S-Presso S CNG measures 3565 mm in length, 1520 mm in width, and 1567 mm in height. The wheelbase on the other hand stands at 2380 mm while the ground clearance is claimed to be 180 mm. Other than this, it continues to boast a compact footprint and a tallboy stance that makes it a great car for everyday use.

The new Maruti Suzuki Celerio on the other hand is offered with more elegant and curvy exterior looks. Furthermore, the new Celerio CNG is significantly bigger than the S-Presso and measures 3695 mm, 1655 mm, and 1555 mm in length, width, and height respectively. The wheelbase is also longer and measures 2435 mm.

Engine, Gearbox, and Performance

The new Maruti Suzuki S-Presso is offered with a 1.0L K10C NA petrol engine that churns out 66 PS and 89 Nm of maximum torque output. In the CNG mode, the hatchback offers a peak power and torque output of 56 PS and 82.1 Nm respectively. While the new S-Presso is offered with both manual as well as automatic gearbox options, the buyers opting for the CNG variants will only get a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard.

The Maruti Suzuki Celerio is also offered with similar engine options and those opting for the petrol variant will get a 1.0L three-cylinder K10C petrol engine that churns out a 66 PS and 89 Nm respectively. The same engine can also be had in a CNG version and churns out a peak power and torque output of 56 PS and 82.1 Nm respectively.

Having said this, both cars are offered with the S CNG kit which boasts features like dual interdependent ECUs and an improved injection system for better air-fuel mixture in the engine. To further improve the safety levels, the new S-Presso and the Celerio CNG are offered with stainless steel pipes and joints to prevent leakage in the CNG structure and safety switches to cut off the engine while refuelling.
