The new 2022 Maruti Suzuki Baleno S-CNG and the XL6 S-CNG have been launched in India with prices starting at Rs 8.28 lakh, ex-showroom New Delhi. These are the first Nexa models with CNG in the country.

Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest car manufacturer, has announced the launch of its new S-CNG models. The company has introduced the Baleno S-CNG and the XL6 S-CNG in the Indian market. While the new 2022 Maruti Suzuki Baleno S-CNG has been priced from Rs 8.28 lakh, the price of the Maruti Suzuki XL6 S-CNG starts at Rs 12.24 lakh, ex-showroom New Delhi. The Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the XL6 are the first Nexa models to be sold with a factory-fitted CNG kit in the country. Moreover, the company is planning to add more vehicles to its S-CNG portfolio soon, including the new-gen Brezza. The Maruti Suzuki Baleno S-CNG is offered in two variants, Delta and Zeta, with prices ranging from Rs 8.28 lakh to Rs 9.21 lakh. The XL6 S-CNG is available in a sole Zeta variant, priced at Rs 12.24 lakh, all prices ex-showroom New Delhi.

Powering the Maruti Suzuki Baleno S-CNG is a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated bi-fuel petrol engine. This motor churns out 90 PS of power and 113 Nm of peak torque in the petrol mode. However, in the CNG mode, it develops 78 PS of power and 98.5 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The new S-CNG version of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno is claimed to deliver a mileage of 30.61 km per kg.

Now, talking about the Maruti Suzuki XL6 S-CNG, this multi-purpose utility vehicle is powered by a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated bi-fuel petrol engine. This motor churns out 100 PS of power and 136 Nm of peak torque in the petrol mode. However, in the CNG mode, it develops 88 PS of power and 121 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The new S-CNG version of the Maruti Suzuki XL6 is claimed to deliver a mileage of 26.32 km per kg.

Speaking about the introduction of S-CNG at NEXA, Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “Maruti Suzuki is committed to democratising green mobility solutions in India, and we believe offering a large bouquet of technologies to suit varied customer needs is the only approach to achieve mass adoption of environment-friendly vehicles. CNG is one such technology known for emitting considerably lower CO2 emissions compared to conventional fuels.

He further added, “Through market studies, we have learnt that the premium segment customer is actively looking for eco-friendly options without compromising on performance, technology, safety and driving experience. Baleno S-CNG and XL6 S-CNG have been developed keeping these uncompromising NEXA customers in mind. Baleno S-CNG will be the country’s one of the most powerful premium CNG hatchbacks, while XL6 S-CNG will be a premium CNG MPV.”
