Mahindra XUV400 Production To Start Soon – 6 Things To Know

The XUV400 will take on the rivals like the Tata Nexon EV and the MG ZS EV SUV in the Indian market

The new Mahindra XUV400 EV will soon launch in the country and will be positioned as one of the most practical and powerful SUVs in the market. The production of this electric SUV will soon be starting in the country next month. For those wondering, the bookings for the XUV400 EV will start in the first week of January 2023. Here are the top six things you should know about the Mahindra XUV400.

Mahindra XUV400 Electric SUV

Range

The new XUV400 will come equipped with a 39.5 kWh battery pack that is claimed to offer a total range of 456 km (as per the Indian driving cycle- MIDC) on a single charge. The claimed range makes the XUV400 EV SUV one of the most practical offerings in the segment. It powers a 148 bhp motor with a rated peak torque output of 310 Nm. Multiple driving modes will be on offer with this electric SUV.

Fastest Made-In-India EV

With a claimed 0-100 kmph time of 8.3 seconds, the XUV400 EV is currently the fastest electric made-in-India SUV and is capable of attaining a top speed of 150 kmph. For a quick comparison, the Tata Nexon on the other hand boasts a 0-100 kmph time of under 9 seconds while the top speed is restricted at 140 kmph.

Fast Charging

The Mahindra XUV400 EV will support multiple charging options including up to 50 kW DC fast charging that charges the battery to up to 80 per cent from 0 per cent in just 50 minutes. The standard 3.3kW/16A home AC charger on the other hand will take around 13 hours to fully charge this battery pack. The buyers can alternatively opt for a 7.2kW/32A fast charge that just takes 6 hours and 30 minutes to fully charge the EV.

Safety

The Mahindra XUV300 is one of the safest offerings in the market right now and the XUV400 EV is no different. The Indian carmaker claims that it has extensively used High Strength Steel (HSS) to make it safe and offer strong protection not only to the occupants but also to the battery pack. The SUV uses 30 per cent High Strength Steel, 10 per cent ultra-high strength steel and around 5 per cent advanced High Strength Steel in its construction.

Exclusive Features

The new XUV400 EV will be offered with many new and exclusive features including a new infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Carplay along with SMS read-out and voice command. It will also get a new closed-off grille with an X-patterned bronze and black design, Mahindra’s new Twin Peaks logo in bronze finish, sleeker rectangular headlamps with DRLs, triangular fog lamps, sharply contoured bumper, side body cladding, silver roof  rails, alloy wheels and mounted charging ports.

Notable Dimensions

The new Mahindra XUV400 EV SUV will measure 4.2 metres in length, 1821 mm in width, and 16344 mm in hieght while the wheelbase stands at 2600 mm. The XUV400 EV will boast a boot space of 378 litres/418 litres up to roof. Five colour options will be on offer – Arctic Blue, Galaxy Grey, Everest White, Napoli Black and Infinity Blue with dual-tone roof option in Satin Copper finish.
