Mahindra Deletes Features From Thar – Check Details!

The Mahindra Thar is currently one of the most popular SUVs in the brand’s line-up and brings in significant sales volume every month. The Mahindra Thar price in India starts from Rs 13.53 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and is available with both, petrol as well as diesel engine options. Having said this, the brand has now deleted some significant features from the Thar. For those wondering, the price of the SUV remains unchanged. Here are all the details that you should know.

2022 Mahindra Thar Features Deleted

For starters, the move comes after a severe semi-conductor shortage that has resulted in a significant increase in the cost of production and raw materials. To keep the costs in check, the brand has removed features like one front USB charger, a knob for lumbar support adjustment, and bumper protectors. On the plus side, the 12v socket has been retained while the brand is now also offering a front armrest for the driver.

In addition to this, the metallic finish on the front and the rear bumpers is now missing. This not only helps in reducing the production costs but in addition to this, also ensures faster production. Having said this, the Mahindra Thar continues to be available with many other features including a touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth connectivity, steering mounted controls, electrically operated ORVMs, and central-locking. Other features like dual airbags, seat belt reminders, digital MID, speed reminder, and tyre pressure monitoring system.

The Mahindra Thar is available with two engine options – mHawk 130 Diesel Engine and mStallion 150 TGDi. While the diesel engine churns out a peak power and torque output of 97 kw @ 3750 rpm and 300 Nm @ 1600-2800 respectively, the petrol on the other hand delivers a maximum power of 112 kw @ 5000. The peak torque output from the petrol engine stands ar 300 Nm @ 1250-3000 rpm for the manual variants and 320 Nm @ 1500-3000 rpm for the automatic. Both these engines can be had with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. Needless to say, a 4WD powertrain comes as a standard part of the package. The suspension duties are handled by independent double-wishbone suspension with a coil-over damper and stabiliser bar at the front while the rear wheels get a multilink solid rear axle with a coil-over damper and stabiliser bar.

In terms of dimensions, the Mahindra Thar measures 3985 mm in length, 1855 mm in width and 1844 mm (hardtop) in height. The wheelbase measurements stand at 2450 mm while the ground clearance is claimed to be 226 mm. Having said this, the Mahindra Thar is available in two trim options – AX Opt and LX. For those wondering, the maximum fuel tank capacity stands at 57 litres.
