Mahindra Thar 4X2 To Launch In January 2023? Check All Details!

The Mahindra Thar is currently one of the best-selling and most affordable 4X4 SUVs in the country and gives stiff competition to the Force Gurkha in the market

The Mahindra Thar continue to dominate the market with its capable and powerful package and is currently one of the best-selling 4X4 SUVs in the country. It is currently offered with two engine options – 2.0L petrol and 2.2L diesel. Multiple reports that surfaced online in the last few days reveal that the brand might soon launch Thar 4X2 in the country in the next couple of months which will not only be more affordable but will also boast a new diesel engine. Here are all the details you need to know about the upcoming Mahindra Thar 4X2 in India.

Mahindra Thar 4X2 To Soon Launch In India?

For starters, the new Mahindra Thar is likely to get a new 1.5L diesel engine that will be borrowed from the Marazzo MPV. This engine is likely to churn out a peak power output of 117 bhp and will be offered only with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The new 1.5L diesel engine will also help the upcoming Thar 4X2 diesel attract GST benefits and is likely to be priced under Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). More details will soon be shared by the brand.

The new 2WD variants of the Thar will also be offered a 2.0L turbo petrol engine that will be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The brand is expected to launch the new Thar 4X2 somewhere in January 2023. In addition to this, many other variants of the new Mahindra Thar are also on sale in the country.

Mahindra is also working on launching the new Mahindra 5-door in the country which is expected to unveil in the next few weeks. The Thar 5-door however will be launched somewhere in the second half of 2023. Needless to say, the new Thar 5-door will be larger than the present three-door iteration of the SUV. It will however continue to be offered with similar powertrain options, the same features, and a similar exterior styling.
