Hyundai To Showcase The Ioniq 6 At Auto Expo? Details

The Korean carmaker earlier showcased the Hyundai Prophecy concept at the Auto Expo 2020

Hyundai is now expanding its global presence and is working on multiple new products that will soon be launched in the country. The brand is also gearing up to launch multiple new electric cars that will be underpinned by the same E-GMP platform that underpins the cars like the Ioniq 5. Having said this, Hyundai is now all set to showcase the new Ioniq 6 at the upcoming Auto Expo 2023 along with a slew of other existing and new model showcased in addition to some concept cars. The concept Prophecy sedan on which the new Ioniq 6 is based on was also showcased at the last Auto Expo. Having said this, here are all the details you need to know about the Hyundai Ioniq 6.

Hyundai Ioniq 6 Launch In India?

To start with, the new Hyundai Ioniq 6 is the third EV in the brand’s line-up after the Kona EV and the Ioniq 5. While it was first revealed in June this year, it is yet to be showcased in India. The new Ioniq 6 is underpinned by the same E-GMp skateboard platform that is also utilised in other electric offerings in Hyundai and Kia’s portfolio. This platform is highly flexible and can be used to accommodate scalable battery size, rear or all-wheel-drive setup, a flat floor and EV-specific portions.

For those familiar, the production-spec version is a full-size electric sedan and features multiple long curves and creases along with an aerodynamic silhouette. The claimed drag coefficient for the new Ioniq 6 stands at just 0.21 and is helped by flush door handles and cameras in place of traditional wing mirrors. It also gets pixel-styled LED tail lights at the rear, ducktail rear spoiler, and a curved shoulder line. As far as dimensions are concerned, the Ioniq 6 measures 4,855mm in length, 1,880mm in width, 1,495mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,950mm.

In the global markets, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 is offered with two battery pack options – the entry-level 53kWh and the larger 77kWh (also available on the Ioniq 5). It also gets a single as well as double-motor AWD setup. While the latter churns out a peak power and torque output of 320 hp and 605 Nm respectively, the smaller battery pack on the other hand delivers a peak power output of 228 hp and 350 Nm of maximum torque. For those wondering, the Ioniq 6 gets a WLTP-certified range of 429km for the RWD 53kWh version while the RWD with 77.4kWh does 614km, and AWD delivers 583km.

While Hyundai will soon be launching the new Ioniq 5 in the Indian market to take on the rivals like the Kia EV6, the official launch timeline of the new Hyundai Ioniq 6 is yet to be revealed. Hyundai is also working on launching the new Kona EV in India in the next couple of months. It is also gearing up to launch the Creta facelift and the Verna facelift in India.
