Hyundai is all set to soon launch the new Ioniq 5 in the Indian market and will be positioning it as a valuable alternative to the cars like the Kia EV6 in India. While the brand will soon be launching the car in India, the bookings will commence on the same day. From what we know so far, the new Ioniq 5 will be priced at around Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Here are all the details you need to know about the upcoming Hyundai Ioniq 5 in the country.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 Launch In India Soon

From what we know so far, the new Hyundai Ioniq 5 will be launched in the country in late 2022 while the prices will be announced somewhere in January 2023. Once launched in India, it will be one of the main rivals to the Kia EV6 in the country. The EV will be brought into the country via the CBU route and will be underpinned by the same e-GMP platform that also underpins the new Kia EV6. This new Electric Globular Modular Platform has been specifically built by the brand for its upcoming electric vehicles.

While the Korean carmaker is yet to share the official details, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 is likely to come with two battery pack options – 72.6 kWh and 58 kWh. While the smaller battery pack delivers a claimed range of 383 km on a single charge while the 72.6 kWh battery pack boasts a maximum range of 481 km on a single charge. In the global markets, the Ioniq 5 is offered with RWD and AWD drivetrain options. The range-topping version of the Ioniq 5 is offered with a dual-motor setup and AWD setup as standard. The peak power and torque output stand at 306 bhp and 605 Nm. This version of the EV can do a 0-100 kmph time of just 5.2 seconds and a claimed top speed of 185 kmph.

The single-motor setup on the other hand is offered with an RWD setup as standard and boasts a peak power and torque output of 169 bhp. This powertrain boasts a 0-100 kmph time of just 8.5 seconds. Both the battery packs support multiple charging options including 220 kW DC fast charging that can charge the battery pack from 10 to 80 per cent in just 18 minutes.

In addition to this, the new Hyundai Ioniq 5 is also likely to be offered with an ADAS safety suite that will get features like adaptive cruise control, automated emergency braking, lane keep and departure aid and blind spot monitoring system. On the features front, it gets a 12.3 infotainment system, wireless charging system, automatic climate control, push-button start, power-operated side view mirrors, auto-dimming IRVM, cooled storage box, and more.

The Korean carmaker is also preparing to launch the new Hyundai Creta facelift in the Indian market to take on the rivals like the Kia Seltos, VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and more. The new facelift iteration of the Hyundai Creta will boast a number of cosmetic updates, new features and better safety tech including ADAS. The ADAS suite will get features like adaptive cruise control, automated emergency braking, lane keep and departure aid and blind spot monitoring system. From what we know so far, no major changes will be made to the powertrain options of the Creta this time.
