Honda Mid-Size SUV Launch Soon In India?

Honda will soon be launching the new Honda City facelift and a new mid-size SUV in the country in the coming few months

Honda India is currently said to be working on multiple new offerings for the Indian market including the new Honda City facelift which is said to soon make its Indian debut in March. In addition to this, the Japanese carmaker is also expected to launch more than one SUVs in the country ahead of the festive season this year. One of these would be a new Honda mid-size SUV to take on the rivals like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and more. Having said this, here are all the details you need to know about this upcoming Hyundai Creta-rivaling honda mid-size SUV in India.

2023 Honda Mid-Size SUV

For starters, this new mid-size is expected to be underpinned by an updated version of the same platform that underpins the Honda Amaze in the country. It is likely to measure around 4.2-4.3 metres in length and will boast an aggressive and bold exterior styling. In addition to this, it will also boast features like LED headlights, LED DRLs, LED fog lights, machine cut dual-tone alloy wheels, LED tail lights, chrome exterior trim elements, and more.

Furthermore, this new SUV will boast high ground clearance and an upright stance that will not only make it capable but will also help it dominate the road with its strong road presence. Other features include auto-headlamps, a 360-degree camera, passive entry, electrically folding ORVMs, shark fin antenna, and auto-wipers. The brand is also expected to offer this SUV with clean and crisp cuts, a large hexagonal front grille, sleek headlamps, and a tall nose.

Inside, the new Honda mid-size Honda is likely to share its dashboard layout with other global models like the Honda Accord and the CR-V that are on sale in the international markets. For those wondering, it is likely to get an all-electronic architecture and screen system in the centre including a new 10.2-inch fully digital instrument console and a 12.3-inch infotainment system. Other features like automatic climate control, steering mounted controls, wireless charging pad, cooled storage console, auto-dimming IRVM, push-button start, power-operated side mirrors, and more are also likely to be a part of the package.

On the safety front, this new Honda SUV is likely to get Honda Sensing Safety Suite including ADAS that gets features like adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, lane-keep assist and more. In addition to this, it will also get multiple airbags and other mandatory safety features. The Honda Sensing Safety Suite was first offered with the Honda City e:HEV in the Indian market and is appreciated for the safety level it offers for the buyers.

Powering this new mid-size SUV will be the same 1.5L NA petrol engine that we get with the Honda City 5th Gen. This engine churns out a peak power output of 121 hp and can be had with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a CVT gearbox option. In addition to this, it is also expected to be offered with the 1.5L strong hybrid petrol engine that we get with the Honda City e:HEV. This engine will however will only be offered with the higher variant options and will come mated to an e-drive transmission. Unlike the present version of the Honda City, the new mid-size SUV will not be offered with any diesel engine option in the country at the time of the launch.

From what we know so far, the new Honda midsize SUV will make its debut somewhere ahead of the festive season this year and will launch somewhere in late 2023. Once launched, it will take on the rivals like the Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq, VW Taigun, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, and the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. More details about the upcoming Honda mid-size SUV are yet to be known.
