Honda is currently said to be working on two new SUVs for the Indian market including a small sub-4m SUV and a hybrid SUV

SUVs are trending in the Indian market right now and are bringing a majority of sales for almost all the carmakers in the market. Honda too is expected to utilise this opportunity by launching two new SUVs in the Indian market. These include a new sub-4m SUV to take on the rivals like the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Nissan Magnite, and the Renault Kiger while one other hybrid SUV is also on the cards to take on the rivals like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and the Nissan Kicks. Internally codenamed the 3RA, this new hybrid SUV will make its Indian debut in the second half of 2023 or early 2024. Having said this, here are all the details about this new Honda Hybrid SUV in India that we know so far.

Upcoming Honda Hybrid SUV In India

For starters, this new hybrid SUV is expected to use the same hybrid powertrain that we get with the newly launched Honda City hybrid in the Indian market. In addition to this, the new Honda 3RA is also expected to share the 1.5L i-VTEC petrol and 1.5-L i-DTEC diesel engine options with the City. Needless to say, the SUV will be offered with similar gearbox options, i.e. 6-speed MT and CVT. All these engines not only boast proven long-term reliability but in addition to this, also offer impressive fuel economy figures and performance.

Having said this, this new midsize SUV from Honda is expected to measure around 4.3 metres in length and might also share its underpinnings with the fifth-gen Honda City. the fifth-gen City was first introduced in July 2020 and has been attracting a lot of buyers with its no-nonsense and capable package. The sedan not only offers sorted dynamics but in addition to this, also offers a spacious and comfortable cabin with commendable ride-handling balance. The same setup is expected to be offered with the new 3RA.

Once launched in India, this new Honda hybrid SUV will take on the rivals like the Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, new Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara in the market.

On the design front, the new 3RA is expected to feature an extremely sophisticated and elegant design language that will have it an edge over all other rivals. Needless to say, the build quality will be top-notch and the 3RA will definitely look premium and well-built. The brand is expected to offer features like all LED lights, machine-cut alloy wheels, chrome trim elements, and more with this new SUV. In all, the 3RA will definitely offer a strong road presence and will attract buyers with its styling.

Inside, the new Honda Hybrid SUV will offer an extremely spacious and premium cabin with almost all the bells and whistles expected at this price point. For starters, the SUV will be offered with features like a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a digital instrument cluster, cooled glovebox, connected car tech, front armrest, automatic climate control, remote unlock, and more. Other features like auto-dimming IRVMs, electrically operated ORVMs, rear defogger, ventilated and power-operated seats, etc are also expected to be a part of the package.

On the safety front, we will not be surprised to see the 3RA too be loaded with all the modern tech and features. The Japanese carmaker is expected to equip this new hybrid SUV with features like six airbags, an electronic stability program, traction control, drive modes, ABS, Brake Assist, lane-watch camera, etc. In addition to this, other standard safety features include seat belt reminders, rear parking sensors, speed alert and warning, etc.
