5 New Upcoming MPVs To Launch In 2023 - Details

MPVs like the next-gen Kia Carnival, Citroen 7-seater and the new Toyota Innova Hycross will soon be launching in the country for buyers looking for a comfortable and reliable family mover

With MPVs now getting extremely popular in the market, a number of brands launched many new offerings in the country including the new Kia Carens, the updated XL6 and the recently introduced Toyota Innova Hycross in the country. Having said this, as many as 5 new MPVs will soon be launching in the country and here are all the details you need to know about the upcoming 7-seater MPVs in India.

Upcoming 7-Seater MPVs in India

Citroen C3-based 7-Seater UV

The new Citroen C3-based 7-seater utility vehicle is also in the works and is soon expected to go on sale in the country. If reports are to be believed, the brand will be revealing this new vehicle in late 2023 and will position to take on the rivals like the Maruti XL6, Kia Carens, Maruti Ertiga, and more. This new UV will be offered with same engine options as the C3 – 1.2L NA petrol engine and 1.2L turbo petrol. Furthermore, this new car will be longer than the C3 and will be based on the CMP modular platformand will measure around 4.40 metres in length while the wheelbase is expected to be somewhere around 2.62m. More details however are yet to be known.

Toyota Innova Hycross

The new Innova Hycross was recently showcased by the brand and will be positioned as a direct rival to the Kia Carens in the Indian market. The new Innova MPV is based on the new TNGA-C platform and is offered with FWD layout as standard. It will be offered with two engine options – 2.0L NA petrol and 2.0L strong hybrid petrol. both these engines are offered only with CVT gearbox and offer impressive fuel economy figures. The Innova Hycross will come in five variants – G, GX, VX, ZX, and ZX (O). On the features front, it will be offered with ADAS tech, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats, powered second-row seats with an ottoman function, a 9-speaker JBL audio system, wireless charging and others. The ADAS safety tech comprises of features like lane keep assist, blind spot monitor, adaptive cruise control, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assist, and autonomous emergency braking.

Updated Toyota Innova Crysta

The Toyota Innova Crysta will also make a comeback in the country and will be offered with a few design changes, new features, and an updated diesel engine that will be upgraded to meet the upcoming Real-Drive Emission norms. The bookings for this new MPV will commence in February 2023. The new Crysta will continue to be based on the ladder-on-frame setup and will boast an RWD layout as standard. It will be sold alongside the Innova Hycross in the country and will target the fleet owners in the country. Toyota will soon be sharing more details about the new Toyota Innova Crysta in India.

Maruti 3-Row MPV

Maruti Suzuki is also said to be working on a new MPV which will be based on the Innova Hycross in the country and will position it as a premium 6/7-seater MPV in the market. This new MPV will be sold via the Nexa outlets and will be produced at Toyota’s Bidadi-based manufacturing facility. This new MPV will also offer similar powertrain options as the Toyota Innova Hycross and will offer the same set of features as the Innova. Needless to say, it will be offered with ADAS safety tech with the higher versions. For those wondering, the ADAS safety tech consists of features like lane keep assist, blind spot monitor, adaptive cruise control, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assist, and autonomous emergency braking.

Next-Gen Kia Carnival

The Kia Carnival is one of the most premium MPVs in the country and the brand will soon be launching the new Kia Carnival’s next-gen iteration in the market. From what we know so far, the next-gen Carnival measures 5155 mm in length, 1995 mm in width, and 1775 mm in height. The wheelbase is longer by 30 mm and measures 2090 mm. The Indian-spec version is expected to get the same 2..2L diesel engine that churns out a peak power output of 200 bhp while the peak torque output stands at 440 Nm. This engine will be offered only with an 8-speed automatic gearbox that channels power to the front wheels. More details will soon be shared by the brand ahead of the official launch in the country.
