2022 MG Hector Facelift Teased – Here Is What To Expect!

The Tata Harrier-rivaling MG Hector was the first MG car to be introduced in the Indian market

MG made its Indian debut in 2019 with the launch of the Hector and since then has been dominating the market with its feature-rich and good-looking offerings. The MG Hector locks its horns with the likes of the Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass, Hyundai Creta, etc and is expected to get a mid-life facelift soon. The new 2022 Hector facelift will not only feature a number of cosmetic updates but in addition to this, will also get many new features and an updated cabin. Having said this, here is everything that we know so far about the upcoming 2022 MG Hector facelift in India.

2022 MG Hector Facelift

For starters, the MG Hector facelift will be offered with a new and larger 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system that will replace the existing 10.4-inch system. This system is not the largest in the segment, but in addition to this, is also the largest of all cars sold in India. This system will get all the bells and whistles including wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. What makes it even more different is the floating layout that helps it attract more eyeballs.

The dashboard will also see other revisions like new vertical AC vents and a new gear level. The horizontal stack of physical buttons has now been removed and all the controls are now touch-sensitive including the power switch and the volume control. The new infotainment system is also expected to be offered with an improved user interface.

2022 MG Hector Facelift

On the cosmetics front, the new Hector will feature a new front fascia that will be defined by an updated bumper design, new headlamps, a revised front grille and some sharp trim elements. The side profile too might feature some interesting updates including a new alloy wheel design. The rear profile however will get a revised bumper and some redesigned trim elements to give it a fresh look. All these changes however will continue to help the MG Hector boast a strong road presence and attractive looks. The brand will also continue to offer attractive colour options for the buyers.

No mechanical changes are expected to be made to the MG Hector and the car will remain similar to the present iteration. The engine options will remain unchanged as well and the Hector will be offered with three engine options – 1.5L turbo petrol, 1.5L Hybrid petrol, and 2.0L turbo diesel. In addition to this, the buyers will also be able to opt for manual or automatic gearbox options with all three engines.

2022 MG Hector Facelift

On the safety front, the new MG Hector is expected to be offered with ADAS on the higher-spec versions. The LEVEL 2 ADAS tech will equip the car with features like adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, rear-cross traffic alert, front collision warning, front collision avoidance, etc. Other features include multiple airbags, ABS, EBD, traction control, electronic stability control, and more.

It is however worth noting the fact that the new 2022 MG Hector will sit above the present iteration of the SUV and will be sold alongside the existing model. This new model will be expensive by around Rs 1.5-2 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) while similar updates are also expected to be offered with the Hector Plus as well in the near future.
